You may be asking yourself, "Why should I take a PRLS class?" Don't take our word that it's some of the best training you'll receive, see what others have to say...

"I think back on this experience now and wonder if it hadn't been for Master PRLS at the beginning of my Rotary career, if I would be in Rotary today."
In my first year as a Rotarian in the Rotary Club of Bakersfield Breakfast, I was trying to make friends and find my way and position within the club. The first few months were difficult for me. I was adapting to the culture of the club; I was learning about Rotary and all that meant; I was attempting to make new friends in Bakersfield having arrived only a year or so before from Billings, Montana. I will admit that the thought of quitting Rotary crossed my mind several times that year. I wasn't accomplishing the criteria I mentioned above and was feeling a bit frustrated. Then, at one of our regular club meetings, we had a spokesperson describe the PRLS program that was developed right here in our own District 5240 and what a great leadership program it is, especially for new Rotarians. The program sounded very interesting so I decided to check out Master PRLS 1. I also made another decision that I believe now changed my Rotary career forever – I decided to take Master PRLS in the other areas offered in the District specifically to meet other Rotarians who live and belong to clubs outside of Kern County. So I took Master PRLS 1 in Santa Maria, followed by the other four classes in Camarillo. It took me getting up really early on those Saturdays and heading out of Bakersfield around 6am to arrive on time, but I am so glad now that I did. Not only were the classes more than worth my time investment, but a true and lasting by-product was meeting many Rotarians in those classes who became life-long Rotarian friends. We had a lot of fun together during the classes and most went on to become successful club Presidents and District leaders. I think back on this experience now and wonder if it hadn't been for Master PRLS at the beginning of my Rotary career, if I would be in Rotary today.

"If you want to experience the real 'pearl' of Rotary I urge you to attend PRLS. It is where magic happens."
When I first heard about PRLS I asked what it was about and was told it was about Public Speaking. I shrugged it aside and decided it was not for me since I had public speaking down to a science. A few years later I was selected for a leadership position in my club and part of the requirement was to have attended PRLS.

I decided to attend and what a revelation! It was definitly not all about public speaking. I found that the curriculum was carefully developed to help me not only in Rotary but in my personal life. From leadership skills, to conflict resolution, to the history of Rotary.

I stepped out of my Rotary world which previously comprised of my club and into the magnitude and magnificence of Rotary. I met Rotarians from all walks of life and from many geographical locations. Yet I found we all shared the core values of Rotary and we bonded and have remained friends to this day.

And then there are the instructors. They are very knowledgeable and effective teachers but I think what got me floored was their dedication to this program. There were many times when some of them drove as much as four hours to be there at 8am to start the class. It did not matter if it was a class of ten or a class of fifty, they brought that same level of excellence and focus to each class.

As for me having public speaking down to a science, not really. There was so much more for me to learn.

If you want to experience the real 'pearl' of Rotary I urge you to attend PRLS. It is where magic happens.

"...PRLS is among the best..."
Of all the leadership classes that Rotary offers, PRLS is among the best, as it focuses on the individual and offers a curriculum based on personal development.

"...PRLS...focused on skills that not only benefited me in my Rotary role, but in my professional capacity as well."
I completed Master PRLS the year before I became my club's president and I was very glad I did. PRLS provided me a better understanding of Rotary and focused on skills that not only benefited me in my Rotary role, but in my professional capacity as well. A wonderful side benefit was getting to know Rotarians from many different clubs as we took the PRLS classes together. PRLS is well worth the time; I highly recommend it to all Rotarians.

"Attending Master PRLS has been one of my highlights in Rotary..."
Attending the Introduction to PRLS got me started on Master PRLS. Attending Master PRLS has been one of my highlights in Rotary and one of the best uses of my time on five Saturdays. I met special like-minded people who all want to make a difference while having FUN. All facets of leadership are taught with clarity and purpose. Bravo!! Master PRLS Graduates are the Creme de la Creme of Rotary! If you haven't already, you should consider attending. If you have, consider taking a refresher!
