Mexico Build 2014

Mexico#1

District 5240’s community based Rotaract clubs of San Luis Obispo, Ventura, and San Diego Downtown all partnered together for their 3rd Annual Mexico Build on July 9. Crossing the border early Saturday morning and returning before dusk, the 3 Rotaract clubs built a home for a single mother and her two children.

The build was organized by Ventura Rotaractor David Gonzalez and his relationship with the non-profit, Corazon. In line with Corazon’s motto, “If you give a man a fish, you feed him for a day. If you teach a man to fish, you feed him for a lifetime”, the family (pictured) was selected by the Corazon team after having volunteered hundreds of hours over the past few years in both their community and within the numerous Corazon programs (education, the arts, food & shelter, etc.).

A big thank you to everyone District 5240 for the Rotaract grants which helped make this possible, to all the participants who volunteered their entire weekend, and to all those who organized the weekend long event!

The Rotaractors were joined by Rotarians from their local clubs as well! If you are interested in participating in the 2015 Mexico Build please reach out to one of the following Rotaract Clubs:
