Darin Arrasmith, RYLA Chair
Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA), is Rotary's leadership training program for young people. Held each April in Ojai at Camp Ramah, RYLA is four days of leadership activities. Approximately 230 students from through-out the District, including Rotary Youth Exchange (RYE) participants, spend four days taking part in goal setting and leadership skills. It is a life-changing experience for all the students as well as the Rotary volunteers who participate each year.
The event is "all-volunteer" and Rotarians are encouraged to apply for the position of Counselor.
Each District 5240 Club is encouraged to send at least one student to RYLA.
RYLA emphasizes leadership, citizenship, and personal growth, and aims to:
  • Provide an effective training experience for selected youth and potential leaders
  • Encourage leadership of youth by youth
  • Demonstrate Rotary's respect and concern for youth
  • Recognize publicly young people who are rendering service to their communities
