On Saturday 28th, 2017, interviews were held for the position of District Governor for 2020-2021. In accord with our District and Rotary Bylaws, we are pleased to formally announce that the Nominating Committee selected Deborah Linden from the Rotary Club of San Luis Obispo. 
 
Deborah has a rich resume for both Rotary and her Vocation in Public Safety as noted below.
 
Deborah Linden joined the Rotary Club of San Luis Obispo in 2003. She served as Club President (2012-13), District Conference Coordinator (2013-14), Assistant Governor (2015-16), Chef Operating Officer (2017-18) and coordinator of various Club and District events and trainings. She was named District 5240 Rotarian of the Year in 2013-14. She is married with two adult step-sons who live in California. 
 
Deborah Linden is a native Californian, raised in Sunnyvale. She began her law enforcement career with the Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Department as a Deputy Sheriff at the age of 22.  During her 18 year tenure at the Sheriff’s Department, Chief Linden served in a variety of assignments including Patrol, Narcotics Detective, Major Crimes Investigations, Lieutenant, and Commander. She was hired by the City of San Luis Obispo as Chief of Police on January 1, 2003 and retired in December 2011 after serving nine years as Chief.
 
Deb holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology from UC Santa Barbara and a Master of Arts degree in Leadership from St. Mary’s College in Moraga. She has been an instructor for the Allan Hancock Law Enforcement Academy and the St. Mary’s College Graduate Leadership Program. Deb is now an instructor and training coordinator for various organizations, including the California Police Chiefs Association and the Centre for Organization Effectiveness.
