District 5240 has no shortage of outstanding Rotarians whose service to humanity can serve as an inspiration to all of us.

This Rotary year, we plan on recognizing and sharing their inspirational journey.

Each of the 12 Groups in the District has been assigned one month in the Rotary 2019-20 year for the Assistant Governor and Presidents to select one Rotarian of Action in their Group

For the month of August the Rotary Clubs selected as their Rotarian of Action to be Tammy Dobrotin.

In recognition of “doing good in the world”, Tammy will be presented with a Paul Harris Fellow Recognition.

Tammy Dobrotin – Goleta Evening Rotary

Tammy is easily on of our most active and dedicated members and has been for several years! She can always be counted on to get involved in our numerous service projects, both in the planning and the actual work. Her level of commitment does not simply end with showing up on the day of the event but rather she typically takes on a leadership role simply because she is incredibly smart and committed to all things Rotary!

- Membership Chair – Tammy served as our membership chairperson for several years. Including

the year I became a member. I can tell you first hand she did a wonderful job welcoming me to

the club and answering all my questions in a positive and helpful manner. Recently when her

successor moved out of the area and had to resign, Tammy stepped right back into the

Membership Role. Tammy has been a major reason our club continues to grow year after year.

- Fourth of July chairperson– our club (along with the Goleta Afternoon Club ) are responsible for

Goleta’s firework show at Girsh Park. It is a huge project that requires months of planning

including but not limited to:

1) Coordinating all the volunteers

2) Seeking sponsorship funds from the local business community

3) Obtaining the necessary permits from the city

4) Establishing and monitoring the budget

5) Obtaining the numerous prizes for the raffle

6) Coordinating the entertainment at the event

7) Contracting for the fireworks

8) Setup and cleanup for the event

Tammy has a great team of volunteers that help perform these tasks, but as chairperson for

the event I can tell you she is vital to keeping the project moving and ensure it’s success.

Thanks to her not only does the event raise $30,000 for our two clubs, but it fills a vital

community service allowing the residents of Goleta our nation’s Independence Day together!

- Numerous other Rotary events – Tammy is one of those members who can always be counted

on to participate in every rotary event. Whether it is a service project or purely social event,

Tammy will be there, and the event (whatever it is) will benefit from her participation!

- Tammy’s community involvement does not end with Rotary, she also supports Food from the

Heart, the Goleta Chamber of Commerce, and Goleta Lemon Festival!
