Does the District 5240 Conference save lives? Well, in the case of the Foothill Technology Interact Club in Ventura, it just might!

Last Fall, several students from the Foothill Technology High School (FTHS) Interact Club attended the District Conference here in Ventura. There they met exhibitor Scott Burns from the SB Sunrise Club and RAG AP (Rotary Action Group for Addiction Prevention).  Scott was sharing information about his Narcan/Naloxone training sessions to teach community members to save lives-organs-brains from overdose.

The FTHS Interact Club board members (pictured) were inspired by Scott’s information, and they wanted to host an overdoes training session at their school. They further decided to focus the training on the graduating senior class. The students then met with administrators and got permission and a meeting space. And so, for the first time ever at their school, the FTHS Interact Club will be hosting a Narcan Training Event with trainer Scott Burns on Tuesday, May 19th. They are expecting 40-50 senior students to attend to learn how to identify opioid overdoes and administer Naloxone nasal spray.

This is a good example of the important connections made at the annual district conference… connections that just might save lives!
