The project was developed by Rotary Clubs in Romania and USA and with two foundations, Gift of Life International based in USA and Save a Child’s Heart based in Israel. Dana visited the Children’s Hospital in Bucharest, Romania while six surgeries were performed. The grant will provide funds for heart surgery for about 56 children and will continue the development of a sustainable pediatric cardiac surgical department at the hospital. Three previous Global Grants provided training for the surgeries by funding nine Vocational Training Teams from other countries to help train the Bucharest medical staff.

The surgeries began in February and so far, 26 children have benefited from the program. District 5240 participants in this grant project include the Rotary Clubs of Westlake Village and Moorpark, District 5240, and Rotarians Ragnar Storm Larsen and Jennifer Alton.
