PAWS FOR A CAUSE
Update
Letter from Gil Igleheart, District Assistant Governor, Group 11 West
We now have Vandenberg AFB helping with our efforts! Major Steve Edstrom and his assistants will be promoting and helping with the awareness of the effects that dogs have on our Veterans with PTSD. We all want to help stop the 22 or greater number of Veterans that are committing suicide daily...This will be of great help to  the Santa Barbara Rotary clubs. for the Veterans in Santa Barbara County.
We are very happy to announce another great supporter... Applebee's International! On Wednesday August 31, the two restaurants in Paso Robles and San Luis Obispo will donate 15% of all meals (5-8PM) back to PFAC. Please support this great relationship that we have with them and our Veterans.

We have had a very busy schedule! We have been invite to speak to all kinds of Service Clubs, Lionesses, Rotary, County Services and even Newcomers Club! We have been invited to join the Santa Barbara VET NET group. These men and women are all connected to helping Veterans...at least we think that's what they are all about! Never having attended we aren't totally sure! We very referred to them through John Matthews (Los Olivos Rotary Club President). It's a long story and once it comes to fruition, you'll be the first to know! We held a very informational 4th of July in Cayucos. We sold our hats, tee shirts and pins, raising almost a $1,000. These are the funds that we use to print all our material and pay our postage...this way we can say that" all monies (100%) raised through our efforts go directly to our cause. We are very proud of this!
Our up coming events are as follows:
Filming has started with our video presentation. It is being done by the Cambria High School video crew... More on them later!
We go to prison on July 21st. Dick Mellinger (co-founder PFAC) and I will go in and video the puppy training with the inmates at (CMC) California Men's Colony. The video will be done by the director of the Cambria video team!
We'll keep you informed as we move forward on getting a college course put together for service dog trainers. We now have 15 inmate trainers at CMC... We will have Salinas Valley Prison ready for the two ladies from New Life K9s to start training by the end of this month. Two more local prison hopefully by the end of summer.
These things take a very long time to get through, so bear with us.
