Each year, the Director of Zones 26 & 27 convenes a Rotary Institute known as the Big West Zone Institute, which brings together members and guests from throughout the western United States and Canada. Last week at the 2024 Zone Institute in Spokane, Washington, Rotary District 5240 proudly participated in the activities, where our District's hard work and dedication were recognized on a grand scale! Mike Dutra graduated from Governor Elect Training and Margarida Eidson graduated from Governor Nominee training. Additionally, while recognizing achievements in Zone 26, District 5240 achieved several significant milestones for the 2023-24 Let's Have FUN! year that highlight our commitment to Rotary’s mission and values.
Here are the achievements that brought District 5240 into the spotlight:
- First Place in the Percentage of Members Giving to the Rotary Foundation
- Second Place in Endowment Fund New Bequests
- Third Place in the Retention of Existing Members
- Second Place in the Retention of New Members
- New Rotaract Club in Bakersfield

These accomplishments reflect the tireless efforts of our members and leaders, who continue to strengthen Rotary’s impact both locally and globally. We are especially proud of our first place ranking in member contributions to the Rotary Foundation, showcasing our district's generosity and unwavering support for Rotary's humanitarian projects worldwide. Almost 60% of members participated in the Paul Harris Fellowship Level-Up Campaign. Thank you, your contributions continue to assist communities into the future.
