The Rotary Club of Santa Barbara Sunrise PeaceBuilder’s Committee is bringing the message of peace to nine elementary schools in the Santa Barbara School District, including Harding, Adams, Monte Vista, Monroe, Peabody, Hope, Vieja Valley, Roosevelt and Franklin Elementary Schools.
The message “Make Peace” is printed on a peace pole wrap that is installed on an existing pole on each of the campuses, so no special digging is required. The colorful and playful design includes the peace message in English and four other languages of each school’s choice. Also, each wrap includes the school’s logo.
The four foot high wraps were printed locally from a computer generated pdf and installed by members of the PeaceBuilder’s Committee. The width of the wrap was adjusted to match the circumference of the designated pole. The cost was just over $100 per wrap.
The schools plan to use the peace pole as a location of peace and where students can go to resolve their differences of opinion.
Our committee is willing to offer this idea to any other club that wishes
to make similar installations in their community. We will supply you with a custom pdf of the wrap that includes the languages of your choice, the school’s logo, your club’s name and Rotary symbol and proper wrap width to fit your school’s pole. You will need to have the wrap printed in your area, so you can get help and instructions from your printing company.
