The Rotary Club of Santa Maria Noon, in partnership with Breakfast Rotary, Rotary South and the City of Santa Maria, dedicated a peace bench at one of the highest points in the city's 1,778- acre Los Flores Ranch Park Saturday.
On a clear day you can see across the Santa Maria Valley to the Pacific Ocean and Oceano Dunes to the northwest, and to the mountains of the Los Padres National Forest in the southeast.
The bench was visioned by SM Rotary Noon President Marga Cooley, and has been a work in progress for the last year ... a collaborative effort to create a Rotary space for peace and contemplation ... a destination. As the first Rotary presence at Los Flores Ranch, it offers a foundation for our clubs to build on as we spread the message of Service Above Self.
