For the first time ever, Westlake Village Noon Rotary developed a coalition of Youth Services Ambassadors from their Group 4 area so that communication flowed to all the area’s Interact clubs from neighboring high schools to work on a group service project.
Westlake Noon chose to align closely with the local YMCA in Westlake and Simi Valley to boost volunteerism and donations for their annual Thanksgiving Food Drive which this year fed a record of over 300 families in the area with full thanksgiving meal boxes, which included vouchers to buy turkeys and food items including corn, potatoes, cranberry sauce, gravy, marshmallows and much more.
Interact clubs from Westlake, Agoura, Thousand Oaks, Newbury Park, and Simi Valley came to socialize, box the food, contribute to donations, organize flow of pick up, set up tents, meet new members, join a raffle of Interact prizes, introduce their club’s officers and raise awareness for submission for RYLA. All participants received an Interact tee shirt, and the group as a whole learned more about contributing to our community and what Interact is as a whole.
This event was amplified on social media from the Yarrow YMCA, Interact Clubs and Westlake Village Noon Rotary club. Overall our partnership and stakeholders at the YMCA were thrilled with the turn out of such a young enthusiastic group of workers who stayed morning until afternoon to help and we were asked to continue to organize this event for 2027 and beyond.
